It is an honor for Fajar to host the world's leading scholars on Islam and Asia, providing a medium of intellectual discourse that respects diverse traditions while focusing on unity.Fajar is honored to be part of the Oxford Islamic Studies Online project, which makes available classic texts in Western scholarship about Islam. The site currently hosts over 300 volumes by over 200 authors published by seven respected publishing houses. The majority are books but there are also more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, many of which cannot be found anywhere else online due to expensive subscriptions or defunct publishers.

In addition to the existing contents, Fajar would like to contribute a volume on Islam and Southeast Asia. This volume will focus on the role of Islam in the history and civilization of Southeast Asian countries.The main text developed from a paper presented at an international conference of Professors and scholars from Southeast Asian universities. The conference was held at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur on 21-24 July 1982. The conference papers were later published by Fajar in two separate volumes, namely "Islam dan Tamadun Asia Tenggara". Vol. 1 (Islam and the Making of Southeast Asia) and Vol. 2 (Development & Change of Islam in Southeast Asia).Fajar's aim is to share with the world the knowledge and wisdom that was initially transmitted by the Prophet Muhammad. The website is an attempt to connect scholars and students from all over the world, regardless of their nationalities and ethnicities, and enable them to communicate through their research on Islam which will help them understand one another better as well as understanding Islam itself. It also formulates a platform for those who want to set up their own websites on Islam to share their works with fellow researchers. Fajar is an e-magazine that provides a platform for dialogue and discussion amongst academics, researchers and students on Islam in Southeast Asia.

This Conference was organised by the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CENSA), Gadjah Mada University in collaboration with Fajar Foundation. The proceedings will be printed in the form of a book which will be distributed to all attendees at the Conference and also made available online.
